What is cholesterol?
Cholesterol is something that makes us all worried. What is it though? It is something that is required for the creation of cell membranes and some other important compounds required by the body. So how come people are scared of it?
Cholesterol travels through our body attached to protein. Depending on the ratio of the cholesterol to protein, it is classified into 3.
LDL – Low density lipoprotein
HDL – High density lipoprotein
VLDL- Very low density lipoprotein.
Of this LDL is the villain as it contains a higher ratio of fat to protein. A buildup of this can cause blockages in the blood vessels and cause further complications like stroke or heart attacks.
How to lower cholesterol quick naturally?
People are known to diet to reduce their cholesterol, but instead today I will tell you about the food to eat to lower cholesterol.
#1. Aloe vera gel
This is the best way to reduce the cholesterol level as per my experience. Peel off the green colour skin that’s on the outside. Wash the gel with plain water for seven times and just eat it in the empty stomach for at least 48 days. You will notice the difference in a few days. This will also clear your stomach; so people who suffer from constipation can also follow this method.
#2. Pepper soaked in plantain stem juice
Chop plantain into small pieces and extract the juice. Soak the pepper in the juice for 48hrs, then dry it completely and use it instead of chill or chili powder for your dishes.
#3. Orange juice
Have one or two glass of orange juice without sugar daily. One can also drink lemon juice as well. If you can’t drink unsweetened juice, you can add honey or jaggery to the juice.
#4. Horse gram
Include horse gram in your diet in the form of podi (powder), soup, chutney etc.
- Horse gram soup – Take ¼ cup of sprouted horse gram, 5-6 garlic pods, 1 tsp crushed pepper, 1tsp cumin, 1/2 tomato, few small onions, 3 glass of water pressure. Cook it for 6 whistles, mash the horse gram well. Have this soup on alternative days. (You can use the plantain socked pepper here for best results.)
Take ragi daily in any form like dosa, kali, porridge. If you can use sprouted ragi, it is better as it is healthier.
- Ragi dosa: Take a cup of ragi flour, mix with water like dosa batter. Add salt, few peppercorns, jeera. Make dosa as usual.
- Ragi kali: Boil two cups of water in a pan. When it boils well, add the one cup of ragi flour. Mix to avoid any lumps. Cook well, once it is cooked you will get the cooked smell then switch off the stove. You can have this with buttermilk, even with jaggery. Horse gram chutney is also a good combination.
Drink at least half liter of warm water in empty stomach. After every meal have a glass of warm water. You can drink flavored water like cumin water, fennel water, and ginger water. You can try one flavor a day.
Start your day with a bowl of high fibre oats. You can take it with curd or milk.
