Summer is here! and it come along with diseases like heat stroke and dehydration. But there are healthy summer drinks  that can help you overcome the sweltering heat and other diseases along with it.

You know summer is the perfect time to switch to flip-flops, but did you know it’s also the right time to change your diet? Being outdoors more often and sweating, up’s your risk for health problems such as dehydration, skin sensitivities, and vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

The simple and delicious solution is ‘Eat local that is  in-season fruits’. Consuming foods that are not in season may come with the risk of chemicals and preservatives applied to fruits and veggies to keep them fresh.

There are many healthy food that we can give a try during this summer. But Nothing can beat a super cool drink. Why to go for artificial drinks if you can make a healthy one at home with limited ingredients. Today we will discuss few healthy summer drinks to keep your body cool.

1. Mint Lime Juice

Lemon is a wonder fruit with plenty of nourishing elements like Vitamin C,Vitamin B6,Vitamin A,Vitamin E, Folate, Niacin,Thiamin,Riboflavin,Pantothenic acid,Copper,Calcium,Iron,Magnesium, Potassium, Zinc, Phosphorus and Protein. Lemon juice itself is a summer drink which offers tons of health benefits.

Mint on the other hand is a calming and soothing herb that has been used for thousands of years to aid with upset stomach or indigestion. It increase bile secretion and encourage bile flow, which helps to speed and ease digestion. It consist of Fiber, Vitamin A, Iron, Manganese and Folate.

  • A hand full of mint leaves
  • 1 lemon
  • Brown sugar according to taste

Blend nicely all the above ingredient along with two cups of water. Refrigerate it and enjoy the drink

2.Watermelon Breeze

Watermelon is approximately 90 per cent water, so it’s undoubtedly the best way to keep yourself hydrated. It helps with digestion and keeps the stomach cool. Eating watermelon can protect your skin from oxidative stress that contributes to the aging process, clear up acne and brightens dull complexion.

Watermelon also contains Citrulline, an amino acid that may increase nitric oxide levels in the body. Nitric oxide helps your blood vessels expand, which lowers blood pressure. Other vitamins and minerals in watermelon are also good for your heart. These include Vitamins A, B6, C, Magnesium and Potassium.

Water melon juice itself is delicious. But in order to give a twist and of course for a change we will go for watermelon breeze.

Ingredients Required For Watermelon Breeze

  • 500g cubed chilled deseeded Watermelon
  • 1 cup Coconut Water
  • Lemon juice of 1 whole lime
  • Ice cubes, as needed
  • Fresh Mint to garnish

Preparation

Add all the ingredients together in a blender. If your watermelon is really sweet, adding a generous amount of freshly squeezed lemon enhances the taste. If you like taste of coconut, add more coconut water to this.

Blend until smooth and serve garnished with mint as aroma of mint gets incorporated to the drink.

3. Cucumber Lemon Juice

Cucumber belong to the same plant family as  pumpkin, and watermelon . Like watermelon, cucumbers are made up of mostly (95 percent) water, which means eating them on a hot summer day can help you stay hydrated.

However, there are reasons to eat cucumbers all year long. With vitamin K, B vitamins, Copper, Potassium, Vitamin C, and Manganese, cucumbers can help you to avoid nutritional deficiencies.

Cucumbers contain unique polyphenols and other compounds that may help reduce your risk of chronic diseases and much more.

In a blender or food processor, blend together the ginger, cucumber and 1/2 cup cold water. Strain and press the puree through a mesh sieve. Add lime juice to it and have it cool.

  • 1 Cup tender coconut pulp
  • 2 Cups cold milk
  • 1 Tsp cardamom powder
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
Preparation
  • Scoop out the tender coconut from 2 coconuts and puree it nicely in a blender, keep aside.
  • To 2 cups of cold milk add brown sugar and cardamom powder, blend it together.
  • Add the pureed tender coconut to the cooled milk mixture and mix everything well.
  • Pour the mixture into a jar and refrigerate it.

6. Orange Juice

Butter milk is very simple to make by just blending water and yogurt. But many version of buttermilk is available now. Here we are providing Kerala sambaram recepie. Blend all the above ingredients along with 2 cups of water. Refrigerate it for few minutes. Stain  and have it. Feel the coolness.

9. Pomegranate Juice

The health benefits of pomegranates are innumerable and what makes them special is that apart from being healthy, they are delicious too.

Pomegranates have anti-oxidant, anti-viral, and anti-tumor properties and are said to be a good source of vitamins, especially vitamin A, C, and E, as well as folic acid. This amazing fruit consists of three times as many antioxidants as both wine or green tea.
